Here is a confession… this column comes to you all the way from an internet café in sunny Menorca.

Yes, the sun is shining and the beach looks very inviting but, dear reader, we have interrupted our holiday especially for you (ah, the wonders of modern technology).

By now, I would guess that you are not exactly feeling sorry for me so perhaps it might be best if I just get on with telling you about this week’s selection of properties to rent.

We start with a trio from Linley and Simpson, all very different but all super homes in their own right.

The first is a smashing, sprawling home in St John’s Street, in a prime position off Lord Mayor’s Walk and hence very close to the city centre. Here we have an entrance hall, reception rooms to front and back and a fully fitted modern kitchen with a gas hob and oven, fridge freezer and washer dryer and dishwasher. On the first floor there is a master bedroom with en-suite shower room and a single bedroom/study and a family bathroom with free standing roll top bath. On the second floor there are two more double bedrooms. The rental for this big and beautiful home is £1,095pcm.

The second L&S offering is another delightful home, this one a four-bedroomed detached house in Horseshoe, in the sought after Tadcaster Road area, close to the racecourse and with easy access to the city centre and to commuting routes. Offered unfurnished, it provides a sitting room with gas fire, a dining room, kitchen with double oven, dishwasher and fridge freezer and a utility room with washing machine; there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and then to the first floor there are three double bedrooms and a bathroom and separate WC. Gardens to front and back and a double garage complete the package, for which the agents are seeking £1,500pcm.

And then we have a part-furnished, two bedroomed property in Rawcliffe Croft, close to the A19 and the outer ring road. This home offers a breakfast kitchen with appliances including gas hob and oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine; there is a lounge, one double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and a single bedroom (which could become a dining room) and a shower room. The rental for this one is £695pcm. Again, apply to Linley and Simpson.

If it is apartments you are looking at then we have a few well worth a viewing, starting with an offering from Martin and Co. Offered unfurnished, it is a light and spacious furnished first floor flat situated in Leeman Road, a popular location within walking distance of the station and city centre. The accommodation here comprises of an entrance hall, large bright lounge with open plan kitchen, one single bedroom, one double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and en-suite shower and a bathroom. With allocated parking, it is offered at £725pcm. Letters Ltd, meanwhile, have two to view…starting with Flat 3, Cromwell House in Bishophill, an unfurnished two-bedroom apartment in a quiet backwater close to the city centre and with the advantage of parking.

Here there is a large lounge-diner with laminate flooring, a fitted kitchen with electric oven and hob and washer/dryer – and a double bedroom and a good-sized single bedroom and a bathroom. The rental here is £595pcm And the second Letters Ltd offering is a spacious, newly-decorated first floor flat in Speculation Street, off Navigation Road. Offered unfurnished, it has a good-sized reception room, a newly-fitted dining kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer and plumbing for washing machine. There are two double bedrooms with built-in wardrobes and a bathroom.

The rental for this one is £695pm.

If neither of those take your fancy then you could ask Letters Ltd about a very smart bungalow they have on offer in Station Road, Upper Poppleton. This, the agents say, is a “delightful, spacious and refurbished property” which offers an entrance hall, bay-windowed lounge and a large dining kitchen with appliances and a walk-in pantry. Both the bedrooms are good doubles and there is a large modern bathroom. Gardens front and back complete a pretty picture for which the agents are seeking £750pcm.

And now, in our last but not least slot, is a smart property offered by Reeds Rains in Bowling Green Court, off Haxby Road.

This is a two bedroomed town house in a good spot and which offers an entrance vestibule, spacious lounge/diner and breakfast kitchen. To the first floor are two double bedrooms and a bathroom and there is a lawned garden to the back. The rental is £675pcm.
