No fewer than 19 Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers were among the 308 finishers of the well-organised Kilburn 7 Road Race, part of the annual Kilburn Feast celebrations.

Julian Norton was first Harrier home, in 12th place, in a time of 44 minutes and 19 seconds with Paul Atkinson continuing his surge in form with 33rd place in 47-18. Rob Burn was 35th in 47-47, not far ahead of Brett Edgeworth, 37th in 47-59.

Lorraine Hiles was again among the prizes as sixth female finisher and 73rd overall in 52-38.

Alan Harman finished a creditable 263rd out of 574 entrants in a time of 1.21-22 in the Egcup 10.

In the Burn Valley Half Marathon, the latest race in the Yorkshire Dales Series, Paul Atkinson excelled coming home in 22nd place, and second M40, in 1.36-11. Hester Cox was 58th, and first F40, in 1.46-31.
