A DECISION in the white rose High Court battle is expected before the end of the month.
Mr Justice Arnold reserved judgement after hearing from Cropton Brewery, Pickering, and Samuel Smith’s of Tadcaster, about the white rose symbols each brewery uses on their beer bottles.
The Tadcaster brewery claims the Ryedale brewery is using a “confusingly similar” rose to the one it has used it for so long that it has become its trademark, and wants the judge to ban its use by Cropton.
Cropton Brewery, which claims the two symbols are not the same, uses the white rose as part of the label for its Yorkshire Warrior beer, which raises money to help wounded soldiers within the Yorkshire Regiment.
