RI Amateurs and Selby – the two teams who led the title race in 2010 – have emerged as leading contenders for the York Amateur Bowling Association Division One in 2011.

But this year the roles are reversed as champions Selby trail Amateurs by six points after losing 7-1.

Shipton are the main contenders but suffered a severe setback losing 7-1 at home to Selby.

Stewart are leading the race in division two but as usual most teams in the league have the potential to make a promotion spot.

Heworth Cons hope to improve on last year’s third place in division three and are top at the moment.

Vickers are in third place having already won as many games in this campaign as they did in 2010.

Dave Preece, president of Railway Institute, hosts the match between sides representing Yorkshire County and York Amateur Bowling Association, whose presidents are both members of the same organisation – Steve Atkinson, Yorkshire and Railway Amateurs, and Billy Brookes, YABA and Railway Corinthians.
