Despite gale-force winds lashing the area good catches were still to be had and top of the angling pile was Graham Dawkins who topped the Saturday open at the Tollerton Ponds complex with an excellent 104lb 6oz.

Drawn on Kingfisher peg 18, he worked the near-side margin to beat the wind and offered paste over pellets to tempt carp to 6lb.

Peg eight on the same lake secured second spot for Graham Twohey, who chose to fish the bomb to combat the conditions.

Baiting with 8mm pellets he bagged 101lb 8oz of fish to 7lb.

George Grundy completed a Kingfisher top three with 64lb 10oz of carp on pellet from the edge of peg 20.

The top rod on Coot was Mal Proctor who used meat on peg 38 for an all carp 60lb 8oz.

Tuesday evening matches have now started at the Tollerton complex.

The draw takes place on the bank at 5.30pm with fishing from 6pm until dusk. It is advisable to ring the venue to book on.

Round Ten of the Bob-Co Spring Series was fished in atrocious conditions at the Carpvale complex on Sunday.

The howling gale accounted for several pole sections as anglers were left clinging to expensive sections of shattered carbon fibre.

Steve Mazza had the wind at his back on peg 12 on Cyprio Pool and made the most of the shelter to offer paste in open water at ten metres.

His ten-carp haul of 64lb 6oz was enough to secure a comfortable win.

John Mills took second from peg four. With the wind blowing into the prolific corner peg the carp were tightly shoaled.

Although his pole and meat attack brought him 14 carp for 48lb 10oz he lost many more in the snags.

Top weight on the Match Pool was taken by Andy Barker from peg 49 where he fished corn down the edge for 46lb 4oz of small carp.

Others: Gary Miller 48-12-0; Martin Dodsworth 44-6-0; Dave Wright 37-4-0.

York-based commercial fishery ace Dean Smith got among the fish to win the Saturday open the Oaks fishery at Sessay.

Drawn on peg 58 on Cedar lake, he pole-fished pellet at 14 metres for a mixed net of small carp scaling 78lb 13oz.

Earlier in the week the Fox Match Baitech–backed Smith had taken second place in a tough contest on Maple on Tuesday with 47lb 10oz.
