THE Hope Concert on Sunday, May 15, part of the A Decade of Hope £10,000 charity fundraising for cancer research, was a fantastic success.

My daughter, Chloe Shipley, organised the show in memory of her mother, Diane, who sadly died ten years ago from cancer.

The event was held at the Milton Rooms, Malton, which has recently been refurbished and was staged as a cabaret room with nibbles and drinks. It looked very much the part.

The cast were all tremendous and nearly all local; some are now performing in the West End.

Most were trained originally at the Kirkham Henry Performing Arts Centre in Malton, under the supervision of Angela Kirkham.

Chloe did a fantastic job of getting everybody together and organising the show, and as a family we are very proud of her.

The show ended with a duet between the Shipley girls, Chloe and Kirstie, and, not to be outdone, younger brother James, who performed the Joseph musical song Close Every Door.

A DVD of the show is available, price £15, by phoning 01904 761809. A night to remember for all – and we raised a lot for charity.
