THE cast of My Family And Other Animals got up close to some real creatures on a visit to York.
The show, based Gerald Durrell’s novel, will be performed at York Theatre Royal from June 7 to June 25.
To help the cast do some research into some of the creatures, Leaping Lizards of Acomb brought some animals along to rehearsals.
Andy Mercer, who runs the reptile shop, was inspired by Gerald Durrell and cites this as the main reason he set up the company.
He took a tortoise, a giant millipede, a tarantula, some scorpions and a snake for actors to hold, photograph and ask questions about.
