IDA May Goodrick (Letters, May 12) is beyond belief.

Can someone tell her that the First World War was started 97 years ago, the Second World War was started 72 years ago. It is 66 years since the Second World War ended.

How can anyone hate all the Germans who have been born since then? Can someone tell her that we did not beat the Germans in two world wars; we, the Commonwealth and the USA beat them.

We are a country with no ship building, practically no car makers, no carriage works, no Terry’s chocolate factory.

Can someone tell Ida May Goodrick that the woollen mills closed a generation ago.

Mr Quarrie (Letters, May 4) is quite right – “we can learn a lot from the Germans”.
