A REWARD of £1,000 is being offered by the family of a York woman who was left “devastated” by the theft of her two dogs.
The worried relatives of 57-year-old Tina Hughes have rallied round to raise the cash, which they say will go to the person who returns the two Lhasa Apso dogs, or provides information which leads to their safe return.
Miss Hughes said: “The family have all offered £100 each to make up the reward. There will be no questions asked, I just want the dogs back.”
The two animals, one of which is 13-years-old, were taken from the front garden of Miss Hughes’s home in Water Lane, Clifton, last month. Their distraught owner mounted a huge poster campaign in the area, but has so far failed to find her beloved pets.
Her daughter, Lisa said: “We have had a lot of phone calls, but nothing that’s led to anything definite.
“People are saying ‘there’s this dog here and that dog there’, but we have checked them out and nothing has come up. At least it shows the posters are working.”
Miss Hughes’s brother, Dave, said: “She is distraught. She is single and her dogs are her life. Everything she does revolves round the dogs. She doesn’t go on holiday if she can’t take them along.
“We are concerned for her wellbeing so we have all stumped up the cash to help her.”
Following the disappearance last month, Miss Hughes said she would never give up searching for her pets.
She said: “Bring them back. It doesn’t matter why, just bring them back. They are my babies. Bring them back; that is all I want.
