THREE men convicted of an attack which left a York motel manager half blind and scarred for life have been jailed for a total of 19 years.

Alan Lumley, 56, paid Sean Craib, 21, to carry out a brutal attack on Michael Brown, the manager of the Yorkway Motel in Pocklington after he pulled out of a deal to buy the venue from Lumley.

Mr Brown was lured outside of his hotel and struck once in the face with a baseball bat, leaving him with horrific facial injuries and blinding him in one eye.

Lumley was sentenced to seven years and Craib to eight years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

Robert Elliott, 20, who was paid by Craib to act as a getaway driver, was sentenced to two years in a young offenders insitution after admitting inflicting grevious bodily harm.

He was previously acquited of conspiracy to commit grevious bodily harm with intent.

Sentencing the men at Hull Crown Court Judge Jeremy Baker QC said to Craib: "You did act effectively as a hired thug, "You hit the victim around the head and caused particularly grave injuries to him."
