KARTING sensation Nigel Moore was fully back on form for the BRDC Stars of Tomorrow championship's overseas round at Genk in Belgium, scoring two wins.

Although not the fastest in timed qualifying, the sure-footed 14-year-old from Long Marston shot out of the starting blocks using slick shod tyres on a very damp track for an amazing seven-second win on the first day of competition.

His rivals were left to slip and slide round the 1,350-metre long twisty circuit in vain chase.

Said Nigel: "I got a good start and kept it from there, the BRM kart was magic."

The second day's races were even harder, with tricky decisions to be made on tyre choice and pressures every time out as showers swept across the country.

Moore was quickest in qualifying on his 75 mph Junior Intercontinental class kart and won a heat, but had to settle for second in the other, that winner choosing wet weather treaded tyres for the conditions.

Yet again the track had not fully dried out for the final, but slick shod tyres were the obvious choice and from pole position Moore negotiated the difficult first turn to emerge in the lead once more.

This time Alice Powell took second place and was the only other driver to even keep Moore in view, his wining margin was still three seconds.

"I got a good start again and just tried to stay off the damp bits. The two wins have given me an even bigger lead in the series, so the title is close now," he said.

The last round is at Buckmore Park in Kent later in September but before that Moore will strive hard to win the CIK-FIA European Junior Kart Championship, to be held at Mariembourg in Belgium on September 3.

Moore receives full factory support from the BRM Racing team, which are based in Italy.
