I WAS disappointed to read the opinions of Mr Daniels concerning his daughter’s injury at Lakeside School (The Press, April 4).

While I feel sorry to hear about Lucie’s traumatic experience, I question the reported criticism of the school.

Head wounds are notorious for bleeding profusely and looking far worse than they are, thus an ambulance was unlikely to be warranted and calling one may have caused a more seriously injured person to be delayed in reaching hospital.

In any case, the teachers were doing their best to get Lucie to hospital as quickly as possible, and probably reached hospital far quicker than if an ambulance had been called.

In a similar incident a number of years ago, a friend’s child did have an ambulance called to the school, and the delay was considerable. Mrs Paulette Love, Old Earswick.
