TWO school pals got on a roll to raise £260 for charity Friends Julia Seager and Olivia Swain, both 16, rollerbladed from their homes in Bishopthorpe to Tadcaster Grammar School in support of Comic Relief – a distance of nine miles.
The gruelling task took them five hours, with a half-hour break for lunch.
The Year 11 students from Tadcaster Grammar School got the idea following a visit to Center Parcs, when they tried out rollerblading for the first time.
“We wanted to do something completely different for Comic Relief; something wacky,” said Olivia, of Bolton Percy. The girls were supported by fellow student Rebecca Syers, who cycled and carried all their provisions, including plenty of water and plasters.
