A JOGGER suffered a nasty eye injury when she was hit by an egg thrown from a passing car.
The assault happened shortly before 9pm on Sunday in Leeds Road, Harrogate, when someone threw an egg from a moving car at a 37-year-old local woman.
She had jogged from the Prince Of Wales roundabout and had passed Johnson’s Dry Cleaners when she was hit by the egg.
It hit her in the left eye and the jogger underwent treatment at Harrogate District Hospital. It is not yet known if the damage to the victim’s eye is permanent.
PC Daniel Ridgeway said: “Throwing objects from vehicles is an act of crass stupidity.
“The assault has naturally left the victim feeling very upset. These injuries are very nasty but they could have been far worse and may still lead to permanent damage.
“I urge anyone who can identify the person responsible for this mindless act to contact me as soon as possible as I need to speak to them.”
Anyone with information is asked to phone PC Ridgeway on 0845 6060247.
