THESE two Jack Russells may be getting on a bit, but they still have plenty of character and are looking for a new home.

Peanuts and Snoopy, who are both aged 15, were brought to the RSPCA’s animal re-homing centre in Landing Lane after the death of their elderly owner.

Because of their age and the fact that both animals require regular medication, staff at York made the rare decision to put the dogs up for fostering rather than a full adoption, meaning that the charity would cover the costs of medication for the rest of Peanut and Snoopy’s lives.

Angela Hunter, branch manager of RSPCA York and District, described the dogs as “super cute” and said they must be re-homed as a pair.

She said: “They are getting better, but have had a tough time adjusting to their new surroundings here as they had been with their previous owner since they were puppies.

“They are both arthritic and can’t walk far and, because of the costs of ongoing vet’s bills, it will be difficult to find a new adoptive home for them. We would like to put out an appeal for a foster home for these two dogs.”

The fosterers would look after the dogs in their home (subject to the usual home visit), but the RSPCA would support the feeding costs and cover all the vet bills.

Mrs Hunter said: “These lovely dogs deserve to live what is left of their lives in a loving home.”
