I WONDER how many readers are disturbed by the monstrosity being created by Go Outdoors on the Foss Bank site shared with Sainsbury’s.

The signage shows a disregard for nearby residents.

On the building side directly facing the Persimmon apartments they have erected three enormous neon signs which have been lit up late into the night and are more in keeping with Las Vegas than York. These signs have destroyed the views of the city and the Minster for residents in the apartments.

Invitations to consult on the development failed to outline the size and effect of these signs. I believe the firm is seeking retrospective planning consent and would call on all residents of York who wish to protect their heritage to contact their councillors.
