STUDENTS’ work has been damaged by flooding from cracked pipes at York College’s art and design studios.
The college’s estates team worked from the early hours of Saturday and throughout the weekend to ensure there was no further damage to the building and artwork, and the college was able to open as usual on Monday morning.
Helen Ventress, head of art, design and craft, said: “The incident is very concerning to us and we have worked hard to ensure there is minimum impact on student success.
“I would like to pay tribute to all the staff involved, their prompt action prevented the damage being more serious. There was some damage to students’ work and the staff who worked through the weekend managed to salvage and spread out any damp work.”
