FRIENDS of a York mother-of-two who died from skin cancer have raised nearly £2,000 by holding a charity fundraising night in her memory.
Carmel Smith, 44, of Saddler’s Close, Huntington, died earlier this year.
She was married to Mal, 54, and had two sons, Daniel, 20, and Matty, nine.
Her friend and former colleague, Lorna Bulmer, and Lorna’s husband, Paul, organised a Legends Show tribute night at Dunnington Sports Club to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and St Leonard’s Hospice – the two charities which helped Mrs Smith and her family.
Paul, who is a well-known local Elvis and Billy Fury impersonator, said the night raised £1,900 and currently a justgiving page they have set up has raised a total of £2,378.
Paul said: “We’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along on the night and bought tickets and raffle tickets.”
Anyone who could not make it on the night can donate at justgiving.com/Lorna-Bulmer
