A YORK MP has pledged to play his part in protecting nature in Yorkshire.

Hugh Bayley, who represents York Central, met local nature conservation organisation Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund at the House of Commons.

The meeting was held to highlight the value of funding nature and showcased a number of projects run by the Trust and funded by Lottery money across the UK.

“This shows what can be done if a body invests in and values the natural environment,” said Mr Bayley.

The Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund are urging politicians to ensure the Government delivers an “ambitious and visionary” Natural Environment White Paper next month.
