CLIFTON Cycling Club's Charlie Evans took third place in round four of the Midlands XC mountain bike series.
Competing in the expert class, Evans was well placed on the highly technical circuit at Cannock, Staffordshire, slipping to third overall towards the end. The winner was Adrian Scott (Freeride Spain.com).
Another of Clifton's riders, Paul Bridgen, also scored a third place - this time on the road.
Bridgen took part in the Stockport Clarion Road Race, the York man getting away from the main field early on with two other riders.
The break managed to stay away despite the appalling weather, but Bridgen lost out in the final sprint to the finish line, with Nathan Harrison (Lancashire Road Club) taking top honours.
