STUNNING is the only word to describer the opening and title track by Joan Wasser.

Ignoring for the moment her pedigree as band member with two of the most exciting US performers, Antony And The Johnsons (although Wasser missed their York show) and Rufus Wainwright, or the morbid curiosity aroused from being Jeff Buckley's girlfiend, this track has standard (ie exceptional) written all over it.

The ballad contains some of the best of Wasser's singing - at once heartfelt and distinctive, together with some oblique, quietly affecting lyrics and a swooning melody.

Naturally, nothing else on Wasser's debut comes close, but the remaining nine tracks do showcase her versatility and potential.

The slower numbers linger longest in the memory.

The duet with Antony, I Defy, should also drag in some of those won over by the Mercury prize winner.
