RADA-TRAINED actor Freddie Stevenson has swapped a blossoming career in acting to play guitar with a band in a bid to make it big as a singer-songwriter.
The 26-year-old Scot, whose skills include Elizabethan dance and stage sword fighting, has made a promising start. He took up guitar aged 11 after hearing cowboys sing country songs around a campfire in Wyoming. The 11 songs on his debut album feature eloquent lyrics, beautiful melodies and catchy riffs.
His compositions remind me of Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young with a dash of Dylan and a hint of Nick Drake's fragile romanticism.
The gems that sparkle on this album include Lost American, If You Don't Kiss Me, My Fingertips Are Piano Keys, and What's The Sign Of Love?
