NORTH Yorkshire's most senior police officer has joined the ranks of Abi Titmuss, Kelly Brook and Sophie Anderton.

And no, she's not donning a bikini and hair extensions to take part in the next series of ITV's Celebrity Love Island.

The Diary can reveal that the county's Chief Constable, Della Cannings, has become something of a pin-up for the male officers in one force in the south of England.

It seems that she has a bit of a fan club at a Dorset police station, so much so that her picture has been plastered up in place of a bikini-clad model.

While his colleagues have pinned up pictures of sun-kissed celebrities and semi-naked soap stars, one officer is so infatuated with Chief Constable Cannings that he has adorned the front of his locker with her photograph.

And while we're on the subject of the Chief Constable, her number one fan may be an ideal candidate to take up the offer of a sneaky look into her office.

The doors of Police Headquarters will be thrown open to the general public on Saturday, September 9 when the force hosts its annual open day and garden party at Newby Wiske.

Visitors will be able to enjoy guided tours around the 17th Century former stately home and listed building which is now the hub of policing in the county.

And, we're promised, the itinerary will even include a peek into the private world of the Chief Constable, with a visit to her office.

Though for some of the people who have been summoned there over the years this might seem more like being invited to relive a nightmare than an opportunity to be celebrated.
