THIS letter is an appeal on behalf of the Vulcan To The Sky Trust (www.vulcantothesky.com).

The trust is a charitable organisation based at Bruntingthorpe Airfield, in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, and is currently rebuilding a Vulcan aircraft back to flight.

Since its conception in the 1940s, the Vulcan has retained its pre-eminence as a masterpiece of British design, engineering and manufacturing excellence.

Part of the future plans also included an interactive education programme to teach budding engineers about our industrial history and illustrate the story of the Cold War, now part of the national curriculum to students of all ages.

With air displays now the second most popular spectator sport in the country, the XH558 will be able to be seen in flight by millions of people.

The trust is trying to highlight the project to raise the £250,000 needed by August 31, and to identify sources of the further funds needed to continue to first flight.

Sponsorship, donations or pledges could, for example, come from 500 companies which are willing to give £500 each.

If you would like to request a project prospectus or discuss marketing and donor visibility, email aedmondson@btinternet.com or phone 0116 247 8145.

Esther (Rusty) Drewett, Vulcan To The Sky Trust, Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire.
