SEVEN days. That's all the time that remains for golfers who want to tee up in the inaugural The Press Golf Day on September 11.

Entries of teams of four for the event, which is being held at Sandburn Hall Golf Club, in Flaxton, close a week today, meaning there's little time left to sign up and support our Guardian Angels Appeal.

There are still spots available for teams to enter our event, and help us in our quest to raise £300,000 to create a high-dependency children's unit at York Hospital - allowing sick youngsters arriving as emergencies to be treated closer to home.

It costs only £200 to enter a team of four, and there's a host of fabulous prizes on offer for winning teams.

The victors can enjoy a VIP day out at York Racecourse on Friday, October 6, while complimentary golf, trips in the Yorkshire Wheel's VIP box, first-class return rail travel on GNER and Sandburn Hall clothing make up the other prizes awaiting those who post winning scores. On the day, teams will receive coffee and a bacon roll on arrival, 18 holes of golf in sumptuous surroundings and a buffet dinner - all while helping to raise cash for our Guardian Angels Appeal.

The competition is a Stableford format, with the best two scores from each team counting.

The handicap limit is 24, but players with higher handicaps can enter, and play off that mark.

Sandburn Hall is one of the region's newest golf courses, opening to huge acclaim in June 2005. It recently celebrated its first birthday by recording more than £1 million in turnover.

Sean Clarke, Sandburn Hall director of golf, said: "We are really looking forward on behalf of The Press and Guardian Angels to hosting this tournament."

Simply fill in the entry form and send it, with a cheque, to Steve Carroll, The Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN.
