FOR nearly 70 years, the York Odeon has been bringing us all the magic of the movies.
The greatest Hollywood stars - Bogart and Bacall, Cary Grant and Rita Hayworth, Paul Newman and Robert Redford, Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe - have all peered down at audiences from its big screen.
Now, despite a massive response to The Press campaign to save it, the lights are about to go out for the final time.
You have until next Thursday to catch a film at the city's last traditional picture house. The last picture show of all? The romantic comedy You, Me And Dupree, starring Kate Hudson and Matt Dillon.
Let's hope for a good turnout. Odeon bosses might not care about the cinema we love. But we do. The least we can do is give the old girl a good send-off.
