DUNNINGTON beat York 70-38 to maintain their leadership of the Tyke Petroleum Men's Tennis League first division on games difference.

Trevor Loten and Will Peak-Vout continued their winning ways for Dunnington with 27 games.

Rob Jones and John Moore dropped only three games in Poppleton's 63-45 win at Rowntree Park. Each of the Rowntree pairs won a rubber with Ian Macaulay and John Neary winnning 16 games.

Bubwith finished their programme with a 70-38 win against Strensall and are third in the table with only York able to catch them. Mark Harris and Fran Milojevic finished on a high, winning 28 games.

Copmanthorpe's position in division two was enhanced by a 58-50 win against Bishopthorpe but they have only one match to play. Bishopthorpe were level after two rubbers, but lost all the last three sets. Dave Bradley and Paul Harrison were the best players with 22 games.

Alne are virtually untouchable at the top of division six, after beating Wigginton 3 63-45. Dave Pearson and Howard Thompson set the pace with a 28-game haul.

Second-placed Fulford 2, who are Alne's final opponents, easily beat Civil Service 2 75-33 - a job made easier by an early injury to Alan Reynolds, who conceded 32 games.

York 3's return after a long lay-off brought a 76-32 win against Bishopthorpe 2 in division seven. Roger and Sam Burton had an unbeaten score of 29.
