A former Selby school teacher is hoping to write the history of Barlby High School where he taught for 37 years.
David Milburn, 61, is appealing for help from former staff and pupils who have attended the school since it opened in 1960. Already he is in possession of the school log and has information supplied by a few former pupils. He is now keen to hear stories and anecdotes together with any photographs and other memorabilia, with a view to publishing the history in book form later this year.
David would also like to know about pupils’ experiences on trips out in the school’s first minibus, a converted ambulance, trips to the school’s twin in Denmark, pupils’ stories about other pupils and teachers, some perhaps funny and other, more serious stories.
Any information should be emailed to milbers6@aol.com or sent by post to David Milburn, Barlby High School, York Road Barlby.
