FOR passengers travelling on local buses on a Sunday and in the evenings between York and Rawcliffe or Skelton, these buses will cease to operate on April 1.
Despite petitions and many letters from regular bus users, City of York Council plans to cut the No 22 on Sundays.
It may be replaced, but this is not certain, with a two-hourly service running between 11.45am and 4pm, but on a different route, and will certainly not get people into York for any church, chapel or similar services that they attend.
It will not help any people who have to be in work at 10am or 11am either.
If you want to let the council know how much you value the No 22 bus on a Sunday, support the residents who are fighting on your behalf to keep this service going by going to a meeting at the Guildhall at 4pm today.
All the evening buses along the Shipton Road are also due to be cut on the same day. This is our last chance to save the Sunday and evening buses to our area. Take action or the buses will go.
Dee Boyle, Howard Link, Rawcliffe.
