ACOMB arrows ace Chris Thompson reached the last 32 in the second UK Open qualifier of the year at Barnsley.
Thompson defeated Darren Whittingham (6-2) and Mark Hylton (6-5) before bowing out 6-5 to Darren Johnson in the third round.
Rawcliffe’s Martyn Turner, meanwhile, was defeated 6-1 by former BDO world champion Steve Beaton in the second round having earlier overcome Andy Pearson without dropping a leg.
In the previous day’s tournament, both players made second round exits.
Thompson beat Gary Eastwood (6-2) before being whitewashed by Tony Eccles and Turner went out 6-1 to Matt Clark following a 5-4 triumph over Norman Fletcher.
