YORK’S transport chief says a bus service in the city is set to be saved after its operators announced changes to its routes.
The move by Arriva threatened to leave Naburn and parts of Heslington Lane and Broadway without a Sunday service, but alternatives have now been looked at by City of York Council’s executive member for city strategy, Coun Steve Galloway.
He will be asked to approve the continuation of the Sunday buses at a meeting tomorrow after officers said there was “sufficient demand” for a replacement service once Arriva removes its No 42 operation due to funding from North Yorkshire County Council being withdrawn.
The firm will also alter its 415 service from April 18, meaning it will not travel along Broadway during the early morning and evenings through the week and on Sundays.
