AS Richard Smith said in The Press (Arrogance Of British Sugar Condemned, August 17), British Sugar has totally stuffed local farmers.
They have been arrogant and dictatorial in all their negotiations with a "take it or leave it" attitude.
British Sugar is part of a much larger company dealing through others with farmers supplying inputs, buying outputs etc.
Farmers should copy British Sugar and demand price falls on inputs, price rises on outputs and be willing to stop dealing with related companies if this does not happen.
British Sugar is a monopoly, but all the other businesses have keen competitors.
