HOW good to see a balanced report about the Derwenthorpe development in Osbaldwick (The Press, February 24).
Although we usually hear from the vocal few who have tried hard to scupper the plans, there are many residents in the area who are either in favour of the development, or have no opinion.
Areas such as Hungate, mentioned in Stephen Lewis’s feature, were not available when the idea was first introduced in 1999 so cannot be offered as a better alternative.
The dog walker quoted as saying, “I don’t think there’s anything particularly nice about these fields” was right. And we do need the houses that JRHT provides.
