HEWORTH’S John Sherlock had to overcome two former champions before he won the eighth Brian Jeffrey Memorial Over 50s snooker knock out crown.

After a slow start in his semi final, and playing off a scratch handicap, he powered his way to a 52-17 success over Alan Reed +2 handicap.

Meanwhile, Colin Robinson B, +8 handicap, kept Lional Barnes B, +9 handicap, out of the balls and won 59-29.

In the final Robinson was 17 ahead with the colours left. He potted yellow but made a poor safety shot on the green and Sherlock potted it and the brown.

He then fluked the blue leaving Robinson requiring one of the last two balls. He rattled the pink and Sherlock cut it in before potting the black to snatch the frame and the championship.
