THE hydro-power generator planned for the River Ouse at Linton Weir will generate power for 1,000 homes, according to British Waterways.
Earlier this week The Small Hydro Company said it had applied to the Environment Agency to begin work on installing two generators at the site.
Simon Cleaver, utilities engineer for British Waterways, said: “This type of scheme allows us to generate a much-needed source of income which can be used to help us maintain the UK’s waterways.
“Once we have approval from the Environment Agency, work on the scheme at Linton weir will commence and provide enough power to light up 1,000 homes.”
