THE annual Viking Festival is preparing for its climax – a battle and boat burning on Knavesmire.
Tomorrow, Vikings are expected to spend the morning limbering up for battle in the Museum Gardens before marching to Coppergate at 1pm.
They will then march to Knavesmire where, starting at 6pm, there will be a re-enactment of the Viking battle followed by a boat burning and fireworks. David Scott, a festival organiser, said: “So far we believe it has gone very well.
“They are all counting down to the big finale tomorrow now.”
Tickets to the Knavesmire event cost £10 for adults and £30 for a family of four.
