POLICE have recovered part of the chains belonging to the mayor of a North Yorkshire town which were stolen in a burglary.
Offenders gained entry to the home of the mayor of Pateley Bridge and took the regalia, before stealing the keys to a red Honda Civic, which they made off in.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said officers had recovered a medallion believed to be part of the Mayor’s regalia from a jewellery shop in Doncaster.
A 68-year-old man has been arrested and has been released on bail.
