Members of the Network 2 team at City of York Council’s Young People’s Services are getting on their bikes to raise money for a local cause.

Over three days from March 11, they will be riding 140 miles on the coast-to-coast cycle route from Whitehaven to Tynemouth.

The journey is to raise money for York Young People’s Trust, an independent charity set up to develop a city-centre venue for young people.

All money raised will help to fund new premises for a youth café in the city centre, which it is hoped will be a space for young people to socialise, try new activities and get support and advice should they need it.

Those taking part in the trip are Matt Godfrey, Jonny Gregory, Mark Zienko, Hazel Burton and Helen Bateman, supported by Hayley Evans and Louise Tait-Simpson.

If anyone would like to sponsor the team, phone Helen Bateman on 01904 552442. Cycle Street in York has offered to service the team’s bikes free of charge.
