A VILLAGE inn in North Yorkshire is celebrating after being nominated for two national awards.

The Crown Inn, at Great Ouseburn, near Boroughbridge, has been shortlisted in both the Newcomer Of The Year and Food Pub Of The Year categories in The Publican Awards 2011.

The awards are sponsored by trade publication The Publican, and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on April 6.

Liz and Paul Jackson have been running The Crown for just over a year.

Mr Jackson said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated for these two awards so soon after taking over.

“We would be really thrilled to win either award.”

Meanwhile, there were also celebrations in York last night as a city pub reopened following refurbishment.

The Fox and Roman, in Tadcaster Road, closed on Monday, but reopened last night with a special event for locals and invited guests.
