A COMPETITION winner from York made a Valentine’s Day dash to propose to his girlfriend.
Wayne Curtis, 26, was at his Acomb home on Monday when a Minster FM broadcast crew arrived to tell him he had won a £1,000 engagement ring – but only if his girlfriend Rebecca Faulkner, 26, agreed to be his bride live on air.
Rebecca, who was out at the time, said: “The next thing I knew I was down Green Lane and a car stopped and a recording crew got out with Wayne, and he got down on one knee and proposed.”
RAC patrol man Wayne said: “I was shaking so much with all the excitement of winning, but also nervous about popping the question – it was quite a day.” The couple are now planning their wedding day.
