ON Saturday, February 12, I noted that the rats were still using Coppergate as a rat run (The Press, February 11).

It is time the police devoted more resources to dealing with this low-level lowlife.

Car and van drivers who blatantly ignore or defy traffic regulations deserve to be fined. Their antisocial behaviour is a danger to pedestrians.

Coppergate and Stonebow have restrictions on the hours that are available and to whom, legally, to all for very sound reasons.

These hours are too lenient.

Delivery vans, etc, should be restricted to before the morning rush hour and after the evening rush.

The restriction already states that the road is available only for deliveries in the specified roads and is not for any other delivery drivers to use as a short cut.

No-right-turn signs at, for instance, Lendal and Library Square, are similarly ignored.

A few number-plate recognition cameras would seem to be cheaper than a dozen policemen in uniform.
