A NIGHT of high-speed thrills was held at a York pub to raise money for the children’s ward at York Hospital.
The Bumper Castle, in Wigginton Road, hosted a Scalextric event on Saturday, with races sponsored by local firms, a practice track and a raffle.
Chrissy Blows, the pub’s manager, said: “It went really well, the pub was full. We raised about £350 for the children’s ward and the special care baby unit at York Hospital.”
Prizes included free MOTs, car valets and servicing donated by Honda, and Chrissy thanked all who donated.
She said: “I want to say a big thank-you to Andy and Martin, from Monk Bar Models, who provided the tracks and cars. We are closing to refurbish later this month, but we’ve already got a few ideas for our next charity event in March.”
