NEARLY 2,000 homes in post code area YO26 were left without electricity because of a fault.
A spokesman from electricity distributor NEDL said 1,991 homes were affected, mainly in Acomb, by the power cut, which was first reported shortly before 1.30pm on Thursday. It was turned back on at 2.40pm.
He said there was a fault on the wide area network, although the exact cause was still being investigated.
He said customers were not expected to have any further disruptions.
