AN EAST Yorkshire hospital has a viable future, but its lost maternity services and cardiac monitoring unit will not return, according to the Health Secretary.

On a fact-finding visit to Bridlington Hospital, Andrew Lansley said he wanted the site to be better-used, have more services and for the “erosion” of its facilities to end.

During Mr Lansley’s visit, he was presented with a list of potential improvements for the hospital by Dr Alan Francis, chairman of the Bridlington Practice-Based Commissioning Group.
