A WOMAN has been sexually assaulted in a York pub.

The 21-year old was assaulted in the toilets of the Tanglewood in Malton Road, say North Yorkshire Police.

The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and short brown hair.

When the attack happened, at about 11.45pm last Saturday, he was wearing a white shirt with a blue jumper or cardigan and blue jeans.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail to allow for further inquiries.

DC John Phillips, of York CID, urged anyone who was in the pub at the time and who may have seen a man matching the description to contact police.

He said: “Any information, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, could be vital to the investigation. Please contact the police or Crimestoppers immediately.”

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl has been sexually assaulted in Ripon.

She was walking alone from the town centre towards Borrage Green Lane when she was approached from behind by a man.

He pulled her on to a bridle path at the end of Borrage Green Lane and sexually assaulted her.

The victim struggled free and escaped and police are now appealing for witnesses.

Local residents have also been advised not to walk in the area alone at night.

The attack happened between 7.30pm and 8pm on Sunday, December 5, and the suspect is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6ft tall and chubby with black hair.
