A RENOWNED zoologist and former York school teacher has died, aged 73.
Stewart Evans taught at Archbishop Holgate’s School in York during a long career that also saw him become a lecturer in zoology at Newcastle University, where he became emeritus professor of outreach studies.
In 1986 he produced The Gouldian Finch, a book about one of Australia’s most endangered birds.
He is survived by second wife Pat, ex-wife Ann, sister Elizabeth, daughters Catherine and Rosalind and four grandchildren.
