A CALL has gone out for volunteers to work in the St Leonard’s Hospice shop in Pocklington.
Jennifer Davies, pictured above, works at the shop in Waterloo Lane for two days a week, and finds that the work fits in well with her family commitments – she has five children aged between five and 16 – as well as being very enjoyable.
“I love working in the shop,” she said. “It’s such a worthy cause, and I’ve lots of friends who have had personal contact with the work of St Leonard’s Hospice. I serve customers, help with sorting the goods that people have donated – and generally do anything that needs doing.
“The other volunteers are a great crowd, and I’ve met lots of people working here; we have our regular customers, who become friends. I’d really encourage anyone with some time to spare to volunteer to work in the shop. “It’s really part of the Pocklington community, and deserves our support.”
Anyone who would like to find out about volunteering at the Pocklington shop should call in at the shop to see Pam Smith, the manager, or phone 01904 777776 for information.
