A HAUL of medals went to four City of York Athletics Club stalwarts at the Northern Veterans’ Track and Field Championships in Accrington.

Jackie Houston, Fiona Crompton, Maria Williams and Colin Shafto all tasted success in the last of this season’s competitions.

Houston won silver medals in the 40-plus hammer and discus, plus golds in the long jump, javelin and shot.

Crompton, competing in the 55-plus category, took silver in the shot and gold in the discus, hammer and javelin.

Williams, a 60-plus athlete, won five golds – in the javelin, long jump, high jump, 100 metres and 200m.

In the 75-plus section, Shafto won golds in the shot and high jump, where he recorded a championship-best of 1.25m.
