Veteran Welshman Gwyndaf Evans added the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire title to his CV when he drove his Mitsubishi over the line in Scarborough 41.5 seconds ahead of Ulsterman Alastair Fisher.
Evans took full advantage when early leader Craig Breen rolled his Ford Fiesta S2000 out of contention on the fourth of eight stages on the a wet and windy North York Moors.
Keith Cronin, needing only a top seven finish to secure the British crown, settled for a safe third place in his Subaru Impreza.
Malton’s Steve Bannister rolled back the years to win the Trackrod Historic Cup.
Farmer Bannister dominated the section for pre-1981 cars in a Ford Escort MK2.
Local crews celebrated a 1-2-3 in the Clubman’s section. York garage proprietor Gary Cooper headed Jim McNeil (both Subaru) with Jim’s father, Jeff, (Mitsubishi) third.
