A YORK village is bursting with pride after scooping three prizes at the Yorkshire in Bloom awards.
The residents of Dunnington celebrated after winning a gold gilt in the best small country town category and being made joint winners of the village discretionary award with Starbeck, near Harrogate.
Dunnington Primary School picked up silver for the creation of a science park in its grounds, while villager Alan Dunkley, of Common Road, scooped gold in the photographic competition.
Roy Freer, of York Street, chairman of the Dunnington In Bloom Committee, said: βIt has been wonderful to see people trimming their gardens and making the village a beautiful place, which people are proud to live in.β
The village will now represent Yorkshire in the best small country town category at the National RHS Britain in Bloom awards in Birmingham, on Wednesday
